The Root of My Cooking

I do not really remember when exactly I started cooking. It might be my memories of my grandmother who was cooking, and fixing meals for my family. There were traditional rituals in my family. We made our own Azuki Annko for for Bota-Mochi during summer times. This August is a special month for me. There are special days in August which is the month for respecting my ancestors. My grand-mother's funeral was the first funeral I ever attended. It was 3 months after I moved to LA. I flew back to Japan after my mother's call.
My grandmother raised me. I am the youngest grandchild for her and we had lived together since I was born. I was always with her. I think we had a special attachment to each other which was an unconditional love. I haven't really realized til recent years. I totally believe that my grandmother taught me very special feelings.
My cooking is from my grandmother's unconditional affection toward grandchildren. She taught me how to season SA, SHI, SU, SE, SO. In Japanese rule A, I, U, E, O is the order. Cooking is also like that. Satou (sugar), SHI (shio- salt), Su, (su- Vinegar), I don't remember what order for SE,SO are.
I remember that I felt a love of spice in the food. I grew up in the an environment that we had always food in the house. I appreciate my upbringing. Now I have been in food industries and have been studying about food, my upbringing was unique.
So now this the time that I can give back to society. I can contribute my knowledge, and devotion, and interests of foods towards people's happiness. Like my grandmother gave me unconditionally.
I know food is very personal. I know I cannot control everything, but, I want to contribute even a little bit for people's lives through food. Not only cooking but also nutritional counseling, being a food advocate, and being food critique. That would make me very grateful that I can share myself.
Hopefully my audience will be able to understand me by reading my blog. It is very rewarding that I can share my love of cooking and my knowledge as much as I could to rest of the world. It would make me very happy when giving people good influences by myself. Enjoy my blog.
